MONTICELLO, Ark. - Arkansas-Monticello's baseball team returns to Union Bank Park this upcoming Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14, for a three-game series with the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The men and green and white host SWOSU in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, followed by the series finale on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
LAST MEETING
The Boll Weevils fell to the Bulldogs 1-2 in the series last season. In game one, SWOSU was the first on the board, scoring a run on an RBI single up the middle. In the second inning,
Justin Santoyo drove in
Chase Cripps on a double down the right-field line to tie the game at 1-1. Cripps walked with the bases loaded, scoring
Camden Tanner on the play. Santoyo drove in
Kirk Woolf for the third Boll Weevil run of the game in the fifth. The Bulldogs tied the game up in the sixth, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly and another on a sacrifice bunt. In the top of the seventh, Santoyo drove in his third RBI on a single to center field.
Chase Cripps scored on the drive. The eighth inning saw the final runs of the game as Cripps was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, plating
Roc Hawthorne for UAM's fifth run of the game.
Connor Irvine earned the win on the rubber, with
Nelson Mercado earning the save. In game two, the Bulldogs struck first again, scoring two runs in the first on a double and a single in the first. In the fourth inning,
Cade Cancilla drove in
Aidan Garrett on a double to right field. While
Logan Jones drove in
Cade Cancilla for the second Boll Weevil run, tying the game 2-2. The winning run for SWOSU came on a throwing error in the sixth, scoring after stealing third base. The Bulldogs scored the first run of the game on an infield error in the first in game three. SWOSU scored a second run on a double down the third baseline in the second. An RBI double and an error on the infield increased the Bulldog lead to 4-0 in the third. Southwestern Oklahoma scored five runs in the seventh, plating the first on a sacrifice fly and the second on a groundout. The third and fourth runs came on a third infield error for UAM. The fifth run was scored on a single to left field. UAM got on the board in the eighth, scoring one run on an RBI single up the middle.

Camden Tanner brought home the second Boll Weevil run on a triple to center field, bringing home
Roc Hawthorne on the drive in the ninth.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Arkansas-Monticello leads the all-time series 28-16, which dates back to the first meeting in April of 2012, a 5-9 loss for UAM. The Weevils are currently in the midst of the longest win streak against the Bulldogs, 5-0, which started in April of 2023. Through 44 games played, the Boll Weevils have recorded a 10-5 home, 14-10 away, and 24-1 conference record. The largest margin of victory for the boys in green and white sits at 19-7, which was achieved on May 4, 2013. Since the first game, the Boll Weevils have plated 268 guys, averaging 6.09 runs per game.
