MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team welcomed their arch-rival the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders into Steelman Fieldhouse for the 112th match in this historic rivalry. A back and forth battle between to the two foes saw the Muleriders walkout of Monticello with a 72-62 victory over the Cotton Blossoms.
Bailey Harris led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (9-14, 4-13 GAC), scoring 19 points in the match-up. Harris hit 7-14 field goals on the day and 5-9 three-pointers. She also contributed five rebounds and a steal in her 29 minutes played.
Alindsey Long was the other Blossom in double-digits on the evening, posting 10 points of her own. Long went 4-12 on field goals and 2-8 on threes with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Southern Arkansas (12-11, 7-10 GAC) was led by Addy Tremie with 19 points.
The Blossoms took the first quarter of the game after a couple of layups from Jayla Stirgus to put UAM on top, 19-18. The Muleriders fought back to outscore the Blossoms in the second quarter, 20-14. The teams were off to the locker rooms at the half with the Blossoms trailing, 38-33.
The Blossoms came out of the half with some momentum, scoring 16 points compared to Southern Arkansas' 13 in the third quarter. The Muleriders kept its advantage to two points, leading 51-49 heading into the final quarter. The Blossoms fought hard in the fourth quarter, but unfortunately the Muleriders would take the match by 10, 72-62.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 18 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms are set to hit the road on Saturday, February 15, as they head to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on the Reddies of Henderson State University inside the Duke Wells Center. Tip off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
