Brief Background
Ojani Chacon will pitch in his third season with the Weevils in 2021. He has been one of the most consistent hurlers for UAM since 2019 recording a 3.83 ERA in 49.1 IP and also was solid in 2020 registering a 3.86 ERA over 21.0 IP. Chacon comes from Harlington, Texas and previously played at North Central Texas Community College.

Why did you come to UAM?
I came to UAM because the college offered a lot of opportunities for me to help better myself.
 
What has been your favorite part about being here thus far?
My favorite part of UAM is the amazing hospitality that the students and faculty have shown through the years I have attended.
 
In our current situation, what is something positive you have taken out of all of this?
With everything going on the most positive aspect I've taken out of the situation is getting to know people to where I can recognize them with or without a mask on.
 
What do you like most about playing with your team?
I really enjoy the competitiveness and the positive energy my team brings on and off the field. Every player is looking to make the man next to them that much better.
 
What is your favorite class in your major?
My favorite class in my major so far has been Calculus II. It started off hard but once I got the hang of it. I felt a strong sense of pride in being able to complete complex problems.
 
What is something you really have enjoyed about that class?
I enjoy working with my classmates because we are able to help one another when we get stuck on certain steps and this helps us be successful when we have quizzes and exams.
 
What do you do when you're not playing baseball?
When I'm not playing baseball I enjoy doing puzzles, playing video games, and relaxing with my girlfriend.
 
What is your favorite late-night snack?
My favorite late-night snack is tortilla chips and cheese dip.
 
If you could go on an all-expenses paid vacation, where would you go?
If I could go on an all-expenses paid vacation, I would like to visit Tokyo, Japan.

My favorite show to watch on a lazy day is Gotham.
