MONTICELLO, Ark. -- The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team closed out the final weekend of Great American Conference play Saturday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader with Southern Arkansas at Union Bank Park. The Boll Weevils used a massive sixth-inning rally to take game one, 15-8, before the Muleriders answered with a 7-1 victory in game two.

Prior to the start of the match, Weevils Baseball and UAM Athletics honored our 11 graduating seniors: LHP Tyler Bribiescas, 1B/DH Beau Kuttenkuler, C Eli Marvin, OF Kyle Tolley, IF/OF Darcy Barry, LHP Vincent Segovia, LHP Nathan McManus, RHP John White, IF Daniel Lizarraga, RHP Aiden McGee, and RHP Bryce Louis.

With the weekend results, UAM secures the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GAC Tournament, set to begin next week in Hot Springs.



Game 1, 9 Innings
Southern Arkansas: 8, Arkansas-Monticello: 15

Scoring Recap:
Arkansas-Monticello struck first in the opening inning, as Eli Marvin delivered an RBI single to give the Weevils a 1-0 lead.

Southern Arkansas responded in the third inning with a four-run frame, highlighted by a three-RBI double to take a 4-1 advantage. The Muleriders extended their lead with a solo home run in the fourth and another run in the sixth, pushing the score to 6-1.

The Weevils flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, erupting for 11 runs in one of their most explosive innings of the season. The rally featured RBI hits from Gabe Kuttenkuler, Jackson Riedling, Drew Floyd, and Daniel Lizarraga, along with a two-run home run from Gabe Kuttenkuler and a solo shot from Riedling. By the end of the inning, UAM had surged ahead, 12-6.

Southern Arkansas added runs in the eighth and ninth, but saw UAM answer in the eighth with three more runs, including RBI singles from Gabe and Beau Kuttenkuler to secure the 15-8 victory.

Pitching Performances:
- Vincent Segovia started on the mound, tossing 3.0 innings while allowing four runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
- Tyler Vincent earned the win in relief, throwing 3.0 innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four batters.
- Joshua Tribe worked 2.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits with one strikeout.
- Mason Lemons closed the game, allowing one run on two hits in 1.0 inning.

Offensive Showcase:
- Gabe Kuttenkuler - 3-for-5 with a home run, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored
- Jackson Riedling - 3-for-5 with a home run, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored
- Elijah Olaybal - 4-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI
- Daniel Lizarraga - 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI

Southern Arkansas came out swinging in game two, plating three runs in the first inning behind an RBI single and a two-run home run to take an early 3-0 lead.

Arkansas-Monticello got on the board in the fourth inning, as Beau Kuttenkuler drove in Gabe Kuttenkuler with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Muleriders responded in the fifth inning, adding four runs to extend their lead to 7-1. A sacrifice fly followed by a three-run home run accounted for the scoring in the inning.

Southern Arkansas limited the Weevils offense over the final three innings, securing the 7-1 decision and earning the split.

Pitching Performances:
- Hunter Heath started game two, throwing 4.0 innings while allowing five runs on five hits and striking out five batters.
- Nathan McManus pitched 2.0 innings in relief, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit while striking out one batter.
- Tyler Bribiescas worked a scoreless final inning, allowing no hits and striking out one.
