Blossoms Fall to #12 Central Oklahoma in Mulerider Invitational

UAM dropped the match in three sets to UCO, 25-12, 25-16, 25-11.

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team closed out Friday's action with a three-set loss to Central Oklahoma.

FIRST SET (25-12 UCO, UCO leads 1-0)
Central Oklahoma opened the match with five consecutive points before Sophia Grubbs got Arkansas-Monticello on the board with a kill. The Blossoms cut the deficit to 5-3, but saw the Bronchos respond with a 6-0 run to build an 11-3 advantage. UAM continued to battle throughout the set, receiving kills from Jalen Scroggins and Summer Stephens along with a block from Grubbs and Stephens. Central Oklahoma eventually took the opening set, 25-12.

SECOND SET (25-16 UCO, UCO leads 2-0)
The Bronchos again grabbed the early lead in set two, scoring seven points against UAM's two. Arkansas-Monticello answered with kills from Isabella Garcia and Sophia Grubbs to remain within reach. Trailing 15-9, the Blossoms put together their strongest run of the set, scoring three consecutive points to cut the deficit to 15-12. Garcia later added another kill, while Maelie Cooke recorded a service ace to bring UAM within five at 21-16. Central Oklahoma responded by scoring the final four points to close out the set, 25-16.

THIRD SET (25-11 UCO, UCO wins 3-0)
UCO once again jumped ahead in the third set before Arkansas-Monticello began to find some momentum. Kills from Summer Stephens, Isabella Garcia, and Sophia Grubbs helped the Blossoms cut the deficit to 10-6. UAM remained within four at 11-7, but the Bronchos responded with five unanswered points to stretch the lead to 16-7. Garcia added two more kills late in the frame, while Hannah Hubbard recorded one of her own, but Central Oklahoma controlled the closing stretch to take the set, 25-11, and the match, 3-0.
