DURANT, Okla.– The Arkansas-Monticello baseball team was back out on the diamond Friday, taking on the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in a series-opening doubleheader. The Boll Weevils split the day with the Storm falling in game one, 7-10, before taking the seven-inning game two, 6-5

Scoring Recap:
A nightmare opening inning for the Weevils, despite a mounted comeback, set the pace for the Storm in game one, who benefited from three home runs, two doubles, and a single to take a 9-0 lead. A third home run in the second pushed it to 10 for Southeastern, before remaining blank by the Weevils the remainder of the game.
The Weevils saw themselves on the board in the third as a sacrifice fly out from
Elijah Olaybal plated
Drew Floyd.
Arkansas-Monticello cut the lead to five in the sixth as
Darcy Barry shot a three-run homer over the left center wall, scoring
Jackson Riedling and
Eli Marvin.
Gabe Kuttenkuler saw himself crossing home as
Camden Tanner doubled to right-center.
The final two runs for the Weevils came in the ninth as Marvin singled to left to score
Daniel Lizarraga, and Barry singled through the right side, plating Olaybal.
Pitching Performances:

Bryce Louis started on the mound for the Weevils, allowing nine runs on seven hits, striking out one batter, in 0.2 innings of work.

Alberto Oropeza entered to finish the first and pitched 6.1 innings, allowing just one run on two hits, striking out three batters in the process.

The Savage Storm once again struck first, placing four runs on the board in the bottom of the first, courtesy of two home runs and a single.
UAM cut the deficit in half between the fourth and fifth innings with two home runs.
Jackson Riedling skyrocketed one over the right center wall to start the comeback for UAM in the fourth, while
Camden Tanner sent one over the right wall in the fifth.
Southeastern added their fifth and final run in the fifth off a single to center field.
The final four runs of the game came from the Weevils in the sixth, with
Eli Marvin sending a two-run shot to right center, plating
Elijah Olaybal.
Darcy Barry crossed home on a groundout to shortstop, while a throwing error to first gave time to Gabe Kuttenkuller to score.
Arkansas-Monticello held on to take game two, 6-5, sending the series to a decisive rubber match on Saturday.
