BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team (5-1) closed out the opening day of the eighth annual Alvy Early Memorial Classic at Bentonville with a 4-1 win over Southwest Baptist University, completing the Friday sweep to open the tournament.

Arkansas-Monticello was first on the board as
Dacia Sexton crossed home plate from a sacrifice fly to left field by
Ashlynne Vote in the fifth.
Southwest Baptist added its only run to the board in the sixth off a UAM error.
UAM capitalized on Bearcat errors in the ninth, scoring three unearned runs.
Lainey Tippen put the Blossoms ahead, reaching home on an error by the pitcher. Vote drove in Sexton on a single to center field, followed by a throwing error to bring in
Maddie Moore for the final run of the ball game, securing a 4-1 victory for the Blossoms.
