MONTICELLO, Ark. – Arkansas-Monticello's women's basketball team has trekked to the Sooner State for their final Great American Conference matchup with the Lady Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State and the Lady Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, February 19 and Saturday, February 21 respectively.
LAST MEETING
Southwestern Oklahoma State - The ladies in green and white bested the Lady Bulldogs at home earlier this season, 71-59. Arkansas-Monticello held control for the entirety of the game, outscoring Southwestern Oklahoma in two of the four quarters. The Blossoms won the opening quarter, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 22-14, however, SWOSU outscored UAM by only one point in the second quarter, 13-12. The teams headed to the locker room at the half with the Blossoms on top, 34-27. Arkansas-Monticello's momentum continued into the second half of the game. The Blossoms prevailed once again in the third quarter, scoring 21 points compared to the Lady Bulldog's 11, reaching a game-high lead of 20 points thanks to a three-pointer from
Ella Hamlin. The fourth and final quarter saw SWOSU try to cut the deficit, outscoring the Blossoms 21-16; however, their effort proved not enough as UAM came out on top with a 71-59 victory.
Alindsey Long led the way for Arkansas-Monticello, posting 23 points in the matchup. Long hit 9-15 total field goals, one three-pointer, and 4-4 free throws on the afternoon. She also contributed two defensive rebounds in her 38 minutes played, along with four assists, four steals, and three blocks.
Alyssa Batton followed close behind in the double-digits, scoring 20 points of her own. Batton hit 6-15 field goals, four three-pointers, and 4-5 from the line while grabbing two rebounds and two assists.
Keira Williams saw 10 points posted on the afternoon as the final Blossom in the double-digits. Williams hit 4-7 field goals and 2-2 free throws, along with three defensive rebounds and one assist. Arkansas-Monticello committed 24 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
Northwestern Oklahoma State - The Blossoms fell to the Lady Rangers earlier this season, 62-77. The opening half of the game was a battle throughout its entirety. Arkansas-Monticello and Northwestern Oklahoma exchanged baskets back and forth in the opening quarter, seeing the score tied four times. The Lady Rangers prevailed, outscoring the Blossoms 17-14. The second quarter saw the Blossoms flip the script in their favor, outscoring the Lady Rangers 21-20. The teams would head to the locker room at the half with the Blossoms trailing by two, 37-35. Arkansas-Monticello struggled to keep up with Northwestern Oklahoma's offense in the third quarter, as the Blossoms were held to single digits, 21-9. The Lady Rangers increased their advantage to 14 points, leading 58-44. The final quarter of the game saw the Blossoms battle for points, with the Lady Rangers scoring 19 points in comparison to UAM's 18. As the time ran out, the matchup concluded with a 77-62 loss for the Blossoms.
Alyssa Batton led the way for Arkansas-Monticello, posting 20 points in the matchup. Batton hit 8-16 total field goals, three three-pointers, and 1-1 free throws on the evening. She also contributed two offensive rebounds in her 30 minutes played, along with two steals and an assist.
Brilynn Findley followed close behind in the double-digits, scoring 18 points of her own. Findley hit 7-12 field goals, one three-pointer, and 3-3 from the line while grabbing five defensive rebounds, eight assists, and four steals.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwestern Oklahoma State - Tip-off will commence the 35th all-time meeting between SWOSU and UAM, with the Lady Bulldogs holding a 28-6 record over the Blossoms. This all-time record dates back to the 64-73 loss in 1987, the first time these two teams ever met. The largest margin of victory was seen on January 17, 2015, inside Steelman Field House, a 68-56 win for UAM. The Blossoms are currently 4-10 at home, 1-12 on the road, and are 5-22 in GAC play. Through 34 games, the Blossoms have scored 2,192 points, averaging 64.47 points per game.
Northwestern Oklahoma State - Thursday's meeting will be the 28th time these two teams have faced each other on the court. The Lady Rangers hold a two-game lead over the Blossoms, 12-15. This fierce battle between these two squads dates back to game one in March of 1978, when the Blossoms won 69-68. Since then, the Blossoms have set an 8-5 home record, a 2-10 record on the road, and are 10-15 overall in GAC action. The largest margin of victory for UAM came in December of 2015, an 81-62 defeat of NWOSU. With 27 games in the stats, the Blossoms have put up 1,715 points over the Lady Rangers, averaging 63.52 points per game.
