RUSTON, La. -- The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team fell 76-17 to Louisiana Tech in a Thursday night exhibition at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Marvin Schindler led Arkansas-Monticello with seven points and seven rebounds. He shot 3-of-13 from the field, made one three-pointer, and added an assist in 38 minutes.
Landen Hill and
Josh Smith each scored three points and grabbed three rebounds. Hill hit a three-pointer and recorded two steals in 40 minutes. Smith led the Weevils with three blocks and added an assist and a steal.
Aiden Cilladi chipped in two points and five rebounds, while
Dillon Dettmering made both of his free throws and added two rebounds and a block.
Braylon Wenger led Louisiana Tech (2-0) with 13 points, including three three-pointers. Iyran Francis Jr. added 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Smith put the Weevils on the board from the free-throw line at the 18:20 mark of the first half. Hill knocked down a three-pointer with 14:12 remaining, and Cilladi added a tip-in before Schindler scored UAM's final basket of the half on a jumper. Louisiana Tech took a 38-8 lead into the break.
Smith opened UAM's second-half scoring with a jumper, and Schindler followed with a layup. Dettmering sank two free throws before Schindler hit a three-pointer with 12:41 remaining. Louisiana Tech outscored the Weevils 38-9 in the second half.
Arkansas-Monticello finished with 22 rebounds, five steals, four blocks, and 23 turnovers.
