Women's Basketball Complete Season Sweep Over Southeastern

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team hosted out-of-state conference member, Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Thursday evening. The Blossoms came out with a 62-58 victory over the Savage Storm. 

Bailey Harris was the leading scorer for Arkansas-Monticello (7-14, 3-12 GAC) with 14 points, going 5-13 on total field goals, 1-2 on threes, and 3-5 on shots from the free throw line. Harris also contributed four rebounds, a steal in her 23 minutes.
 
Kelsey Blakemore and Haleigh Crews were the final Blossoms in double digits on the night, both contributing 12 points. Blakemore went 4-8 on total field goals, 1-3 on threes, and 3-4 on shots from the free throw line in her 34 minutes of play. Crews went 3-8 in total field goals, 2-4 on threes, and 4-7 from the free throw line in her 31 minutes of play. Both ladies also led the team in rebounds, grabbing seven each. 

Southeastern Oklahoma (7-14, 3-12 GAC) was led by Grace Alverson with 14 points.

The first quarter started off slow for both teams, but saw the Blossoms be the first on the board thanks to a three from Kelsey Blakemore. For the rest of the quarter the teams would continue to trade points back and forth and the score remained close the whole time. Going into the second quarter, Arkansas-Monticello trailed Southeastern Oklahoma 11-12.

Quarter two would go down in a draw as both teams would score 13 points. The teams would head to the locker room at half time with Arkansas-Monticello trailing Southeastern Oklahoma state, 24-25.

The third quarter once again remained close as both teams continued to fight back and forth for who would gain the control over the game. UAM would still trail SE 41-39 heading into the final quarter of the game.

For the final quarter of the game the Blossoms would bust the game wide open, out scoring the Savage Storm 23-17. The game came to an end with the Blossoms on top, 62-58.

Arkansas-Monticello committed 21 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms return to Steelman Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 10 when they host out-of-state conference member East Central University. The game is scheduled to tip off at 1:00 p.m.
