@WEEVILFOOTBALL PICKS UP THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

MONTICELLO --- The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team earn its third straight win Saturday evening, with a victory over Southern Nazarene at home, by a final score of 35-23.

  • Arkansas-Monticello improves to 5-3 (5-3 GAC) overall on the year.
  • SNU drops to 3-5 (3-5 GAC) in 2017.
  • "Unreal game, players had to overcome a lot tonight," said head football coach Hud Jackson. "Crowd hung with us, and I was really pumped for all phases. We have to continue to take them one at a time. Weevils are playing well together, and so pumped up."

  • The Weevils struck first in this contest with a 26 yard touchdown through the air from Cole Sears to Trevon Smith for the early 7-0 lead.  
  • SNU answered right back however with a short rushing touchdown to tie up the game at 7-7 midway through the quarter. 
  • UAM found its way back into the end-zone as Sears connected with tight-end Austin Harris for the 14 yard score, giving the Weevils the 14-7 advantage by the quarters' end.

  • The Crimson Storm punched in another touchdown on the ground from just two yards out to tie the ball game back up once again, at 14-14.
  • A lightning delay would push the contest back, and as play finally resumed, the Weevils came out firing with an Imani Riley rushing touchdown to take the lead.
  • UAM capped off its' scoring in the half with Sears' third passing touchdown, this time finding Jamal Chevis from 21 yards out to push the home lead out to 28-14.

  • Arkansas-Monticello would score the lone touchdown of the third quarter on a 42 yard rushing TD from Nigel Dora to see UAM on top, 35-21 with just 01:02 left in the quarter.

  • SNU went on to generate nine points in the fourth and final quarter, but it was not enough as the Weevils were able to seal the game off for its' third straight victory at 35-23 on homecoming night.

  • Arkansas-Monticello returns to action on Saturday, October 28 against GAC opponent Ouachita Baptist on the road in Arkadelphia, Arkansas with kick-off set for 1:00 p.m.
