MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team shot just over 25 percent from the field in a 52-72 loss to Harding at home to push its losing streak to four in a row, all in Gulf South Conference play.
The Cotton Blossoms (7-10, 1-4 GSC-West) made 13-of-51 field goal attempts (25.5 percent), 4-of-21 three-pointers (19 percent) and scored almost half of their points from the foul line, where the team was 22-of-27 (81.5 percent).
Individually, junior Erika Brown led UAM with 11 points and six rebounds after making 4-of-5 shots from the field and all three of her foul shots.
The Lady Bisons (9-8, 2-3 GSC-West) made 25-of-48 shots from the field (52.1 percent), 2-of-6 three-pointers (33.3 percent) and 20-of-33 foul shots (60.6 percent).
Harding’s Stacey Owens led all scorers with 22 points after making 8-of-11 field goals and 6-of-9 foul shots. Sierra Rollins and Kallie Bartee also reached double-figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
The Cotton Blossoms continue GSC play this upcoming Thursday, January 28 in Russellville, Ark. against ninth-ranked and undefeated Arkansas Tech. The Golden Suns will likely improve that ranking after knocking off No. 2 Delta State 56-47 on Saturday.
Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum on the ATU campus.
